Clwydian Range & Dee Valley Young Rangers

Want to help nature?  Aged 11 – 18?  Join one of our Young Rangers groups based out of Loggerheads Country Park or the Dee Valley!

The groups are perfect for young people aged 11 to 18 who want to learn more about the amazing landscape on their doorstep, get involved in practical conservation work or wildlife surveying, and experience fun recreational activities in the outdoors.

Our Young Ranger groups first started in 2012, and many of our past young rangers have continued to volunteer and work with the Countryside Service as young adults.

We meet on about a monthly basis, with events of between 3 and 6 hours.  Participants need to have practical clothing, including waterproofs and sensible footwear.  Food and drink need to be brought, although we do often provide hot chocolate and bonfire-cooking.

The National Landscape was chosen to host the EUROPARC International Junior Ranger Camp in July 2024. Over 40 young rangers and adults from 10 countries across Europe stayed in the Dee Valley for a week in celebration of designated landscapes and the young people who help protect them. This wouldn’t have been possible without funding from EUROPARC Federation & Tirweddau Cymru. We look forward to being able to join EUROPARC for future camps, and repeat the experience in other countries.
