Funding secured from Round 2 of the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund for improvements at two of our Country Parks have now arrived at their Planning stages.
Loggerheads Country Park
This project seeks to enhance and improve Loggerheads Country Park, a gateway to the National Landscape, through an upgrade of the main visitor buildings, creation of an external canopy with additional seating and enhanced visitor access, alongside much needed flood mitigation works. The primary goal of these improvements will be to assist with the management of pressures associated with increased visitor numbers and respond to rising visitor expectations.
Flood elevation works is currently underway at the Loggerheads Country Park site. Local contractors, MWT Ltd, have been appointed to undertake the scheme. Visitor centre and café improvements application has been submitted on the Denbighshire County Council planning portal and can be viewed by clicking on the link below.

Moel Famau Country Park
This project seeks to enhance and improve Moel Famau, one of the busiest sites in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape, through the development of a ‘Nordic’ style visitor hub, which will include a grab and go refreshment facilities and toilets, at the upper Bwlch Pen Barras car park, along with improvements to cycling routes in the area. The primary goal of these improvements will be to establish a more permanent staff presence on site, which will assist with the management of pressures associated with increased visitor numbers. The hub will provide information and advice to visitors, along with ‘grab and go’ refreshment facilities and toilets. The Moel Famau project has been submitted on the DCC planning portal and is awaiting decision.
